※潜水艦パンパニト(SS-383)の船体断面。潜望鏡は前から順番にNo. 1ペリスコープ、No. 2ペリスコープ・・・と続く。潜望鏡を格納する部分は図の中央に書かれている所“PERISCOPE WELL”と呼ばれる。WELLは井戸の意味。底面に衝撃吸収材を設置
※第二次大戦末期の潜水艦ガトー/バラオ級にはNo. 1ペリスコープにはタイプ4、No. 2ペリスコープにはタイプ2もしくはタイプ3を装備する例が多かった。例えばタイプ2(Type II)91-KA-401/1.414-HA潜望鏡(全長12.66m、重量907.18s、最大直径19.05p、倍率1.5倍で視野32度、倍率6倍で視野8度、最大仰角74.5度/俯角10度)は、視野の仰角の向上、航法の為の天体測定を可能とした。HAはハイ・アングル(高角)の略で天体測定機能の無い型はタイプ1。次に実用化されたタイプ3 92-KA-40T/1.99は索敵用の新型で天体測定機能の無い型。1944年中頃に配備されたタイプ4 93-KN-36は夜間専用で天体測定機能の無い型
